Impatiens noli-tangere Linnaeus View in CoL , Species Plantarum 2: 938. 1753.

"Habitat in Europae, Canadae nemoribus." RCN: 6798.

Lectotype (Grey-Wilson in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 143: 4. 1979): Kalm, Herb. Linn. No. 1053.6 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Impatiens Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 184. 1929).

Current name: Impatiens noli - tangere L. ( Balsaminaceae ).

Note: Grey-Wilson (in Rechinger, Fl. Iranica 143: 4. 1979) indicated a Kalm specimen (1053.6 LINN) as type, but the collection is apparently identifiable as I. capensis Meerb. (see Barrie & al. in Taxon 41: 511. 1992). Reveal (in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 57. 1993) therefore designated a Clifford sheet as lectotype against the possible adoption of the latter work as a Names in Current Use (NCU) List. However, Grey-Wilson’s choice now has priority and, if the identity of the type is confirmed, a conservation proposal appears to be necessary.
