Material examined. Type locality. Sichuan Province, Emei Shan, Baoguosi, 600m.
Type. Holotype: male ( IZCAS), CHINA, Sichuan Province, Emei Shan, Baoguosi / 600m, 1957. IV. 9 Leyi Zheng & Hanhua Cheng coll. / Zeugophora (Pedrillia) emeica sp. n., HOLOTYPE, des. by K.Q. Li & H.B. Liang, 2013 [red label].
Description. Male: BL= 6.3mm, BW=3.0mm. Head black; antennae dorsal portion black and underside yellow except antennomeres 3–4entirely black; mouthparts yellowish brown except mandible apex black; pronotum black except basal one fifth reddish brown; scutellum reddish brown; elytra reddish brown except apical one fifth black; pygidium black; underside reddish brown, abdominal sternites 2–4 black centrally, last abdominal sternite black; legs reddish brown, outer margin of pro- and meso-tibiae black, dorsocentral portion of tarsi brown.
Head: eyes prominent, inner margin with distinct canthus; vertex sparsely punctate; occiput glabrous, strongly constricted; frontal suture absent; clypeus rectangular, width 3 times as length, punctate and pubescent laterally, separated from frons by deep fronto-clypeal suture; labrum short, sparsely punctate and pubescent; antennae slender, extended to the half length of body, antennomere 3 as long as 4, longer than 5, antennomeres 6–10 as long as antennomere1 (scape), antennomere 11 acute at apex.
Thorax: PW/PL = 1.4, PBW/PAW =1.2; anterior groove distinct laterally, obsolete medially, posterior groove deep laterally, shallow medially; disc convex, finely punctured throughout; lateral margin gradually expanded from anterior angle to the middle, then strongly constricted, lateral tubercle round, hind margin formed a nearly right angle with lateral margin; basal groove present; disc slightly convex laterally just before the groove; hind angle with three long setae. Scutellum triangular, slightly emarginate at apex, sparsely punctate and pubescent.
Elytra: EL/EW= 1.5; elytral humeri slightly swollen, projected anterolaterally, humeral groove shallow; lateral margins nearly paralleled, apex rounded; disc slightly convex, weakly depressed at basal one third, finely punctate and pubescent; suture with one row of punctures and pubescences; epipleura widened at base, with two rows of punctures and pubescences.
Abdomen and legs: Underside sparsely punctate and pubescent. Legs moderately long, femora robust, mid- and hind-tibiae slightly curved. Pygidium emarginate apically, longitudinally depressed centrally. Last abdominal sternite with apical margin nearly straight, densely punctate and pubescent. Median lobe flattened, slightly curved in lateral view, widest at basal one third, basal and apical portions narrow, lateral sides margins and apex strongly sclerotised, dorsocentral portion membranous, apex triangular, sharp ( Figs 20–22 View FIGURES 20–25 ); median struts rod-shaped, widely separated from each other, approximately 1.5 times as long as median lobe ( Figs 20–21 View FIGURES 20–25 ); tegmen with basal piece V-shaped ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 20–25 ), parameres lingulate, basal margin of parameres with a sclerotised piece pointed dorsoposteriorly ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 20–25 ), apical margin of parameres with dense setae ( Figs 16–17 View FIGURES 16–19 ); endophallus membranous, with two pieces of spiny areas at apex ( Figs 23–24 View FIGURES 20–25 ). Spiculum relictum as long as median lobe, base stick-shaped, apex triangular ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 20–25 ).
Distribution. China (Sichuan).
Etymology. The specific name emeica refer to the type locality, Emei Shan.
Remarks. We have only one specimen (holotype) at hands. An amateur in Shanghai, China collected another specimen of same species from Emei Shan in 2011 and we checked its image. Since the specimen in Shanghai is not available to us at present, we don’t intend to designate it as paratype.
This species differs from all other species of Zeugophora (Pedrillia) in having elytra reddish brown with apical one fifth black ( Fig.16 View FIGURES 16–19 ).
