Typus generis: Catilostenus nigroviolaceus MEUNIER 1888 .
Distribution: Ethiopian Region.
Valid species: 1.
Meunier’s collection, which was housed in Bonn, was destroyed during World War II (Lampe, personal communication). The status of the genus is still in discussion, although BEQUAERT (1918) thaught it could be a synonym of Synagris LATREILLE.
