COMPARATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Vaejovis tenamaztlei and V. aguazarca sp. nov. share the presence of one macroseta and one microseta on an anterior flat plate of the manus but can be differentiated from V. aquascalentensis sp. nov., which has two chelicerae macrosetae. Carapace anterior margin almost straight in V. tenamaztlei ( Fig. 5C View Fig ) instead of bilobate as in V. aguazarca sp. nov. and V. aquascalentensis sp. nov. Pedipalp chela patella with prolateral median carina obsolete, this is opposed to the short row of granules in V. aquascalentensis sp. nov. or the longer row of granules in V. aguazarca sp. nov ( Figs. 8D, 17D View Fig and 20D View Fig ), Chela manus prolateral dorsal, dorsal prolateral, and dorsal prosubmedian carinae absent in V. tenamaztlei instead of granular as in V. aguazarca sp. nov. and V. aquascalentensis sp. nov ( Figs. 9 View Fig , 18 View Fig and 21 View Fig ); dorsal median carinae immaculate instead of infuscate. Movable finger with five retrolateral denticles instead of six retrolateral as in V. aguazarca sp. nov. or seven retrolateral denticles as in V. aquascalentensis sp. nov ( Fig. 10B, D, F View Fig ). Sternite VII surface with five pairs of setae instead of six ( Fig. 12C View Fig ). Telotarsal ventral spinules arranged in clusters instead of in a single aligned row ( Fig. 11C View Fig ). Metasomal ventral lateral carina II-V weak, almost smooth instead of granular ( Fig. 13I View Fig ). Telson dorsal surface in adult males, with large median glandular depression instead of smooth surface or a hyaline thickening near the base of the aculeus ( Fig. 14C View Fig ).

Hemispermatophore laminar antero-distal process weak instead of prominent or obsolete. Capsular distal carina prominent and blunt instead of prominent and spiniform or less prominent and rounded ( Fig. 2C View Fig ). Moreover, V. tenamaztlei differs from V. aquascalentensis sp. nov. in the following: basal lateral trough shallow instead of deep, the capsular basal carina distal margin is V-shaped instead of rounded. Capsular basal carina hooklets are absent in V. tenamaztlei instead of present as in V. aguazarca sp. nov.
