Etymology. Named after Mr Alexandre Clerc, who helped us in the study of the type specimen.

Type material. Holotype MNHN.F. A71322 View Materials (male, complete, BA311, historical collection of fossil insects in Baltic amber of the MNHN), deposited in the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris, France.

Diagnosis. Wings 6 mm long; scape as large as pedicel.

Description. Measurements. Body: 7.6 mm long; head: 0.8 mm long, 1.3 mm high; wing: 6.0 mm long, 1.7 mm wide; Abdomen: 4.8 mm long, 1.2 mm high.

Holotype male. Head: clypeus bulbous; face bare between eyes; scape short, as large as pedicel and just slightly longer; first flagellomere kidney-shaped, convex below arista, laterally compressed, enlarged, bearing a long subterminal anterodorsal arista which is 0.6 mm long; eyes large, without visible setae (bare), holoptic; labella 0.3 mm long, distinctly shorter than height of head; palpus two-segmented, distal segment setose, five times as long as proximal segment; lacinia and mandibles not visible.

Thorax: 1.9 mm long; mesonotum and scutellum covered of long thin setae; all dorsal setae of equal length; anepisternum setulose throughout posterior half; laterotergite setose; postspiracular scale smooth and flat; subscutellum not discernable, reduced.

Legs: tibial spur formula 0:2:1; hind tibial macrochaetae absent.

Wing: moderately infuscate, with a large dark brown pterostigmal area; lower calypter reduced; upper calypter well developed, with broad curvature, lobe-like; costa continuing after wing apex; humeral crossvein well-developed; crossvein sc-r not visible; R 1 and R 2+3 well separated at wing margin; dorsal side of R 1 setulose, ventral side bare; all other wing veins without setulae; R 2+3 longer than R 5; base of R 4+5 fork proximal distal end of cell dm; R 4 nearly straight apically; R 5 distinctly posterior to wing tip, shorter than R 4+5; crossvein r-m at proximal one-third of discal cell; vein M 3 present; crossvein m-cu present; alula with broad, evenly rounded curvature; anal lobe well developed; cell cua close. Halter knob approximately 0.8 length of stem.

Terminalia: male genitalia poorly visible.
