Species Tryphomys adustus Miller 1910
Discussion: Rattus Division. Musser and Newcomb (1983) and Musser and Heaney (1992) revised the genus and documented the history of its past association with Rattus ; identified as a Philippine New Endemic ( Musser and Heaney, 1992). Tryphomys and Abditomys , another Luzon endemic, form a monophyletic cluster; their phylogenetic alliances to other genera of Philippine New Endemics, or to genera native to other regions in the Indo-Australian region, remain unresolved.
