Type species: Zelentsoviella jugorica n. sp.

Etymology. The genus is named in honor of the chironomid’s researcher Nikolai Ivanovich Zelentsov.

Diagnostic characters: Eye bare, reniform, without dorsomedian extension. Palp consists of 4 segments. Wing with very faint punctation under high magnification, without macrosetae. Wing with obtuse anal lobe. R 4+5 ending proximal to end of M 1+2 and distal to end of M 3+4. Squama with 2 setae. Acrostichals 2 on mid-scutum. Hind tibial comb is partially reduced and consists of 6 weak setae. Pulvilli reduced. Virga absent. The long part of the gonostylus is smoothly bent and gradually narrows to the apex, is covered with macrosetae and microsetae. Crista dorsalis absent. The additional part of the gonostylus has the shape of a palm with a bent thumb.

Description: Total length 2.2 mm, and abdomen 1.5 mm. Wing length 1.4 mm. Ratio total length/wing length 1.57.

Head. Eye bare, reniform, without dorsomedian extension. Palp consists of 4 segments.

Wing. Wing with very faint punctation under high magnification, without macrosetae. Wing with obtuse anal lobe. R 4+5 ending distal to end of M 3+4. R 2+3 weak. Brachiolum with 1 seta, other veins and membrane bare. Squama with 2 setae.

Thorax. Antepronotum with 2 ventrolateral setae. Dorsocentrals 7–8, acrostichals 2 on mid-scutum, prealars 3. Scutellum with 4 setae.

Legs. Hind tibial comb is partially reduced and consists of 6 weak setae. Sensillae chaetica present and pseudospurs absent. Pulvilli reduced, empodium present.

Hypopygium. Anal point strongly elevated above surface of tergite IX and located in its middle, with setae, distally triangular. Virga absent. Transverse sternapodeme is straight. Superior volsella collarlike. Dorsal part of inferior volsella obtuse with macrosetae and microsetae, ventral part rounded with microsetae only. The long part of the gonostylus is smoothly bent and gradually narrows to the apex, is covered with macrosetae and microsetae. Crista dorsalis absent. The additional part of the gonostylus has a pair of setae and has the shape of a palm with a bent thumb.

Female, pupa and larva. Unknown.

Systematics. Zelentsoviella gen. nov. has bare eyes, wings without macrosetae, squama with setae, reduced pulvilli and partially reduced hind tibial comb. According the key to Orthocladiinae genera ( Saether et al., 2000) the new genus is similar to Abiskomyia, Bryophaenocladius, Baeoctenus, Dratnalia , Hydrobaenus , Propsilocerus, Symbiocladius, Trissocladius and Zalutschia.

Zelentsoviella gen. nov. is easily separated from Baeoctenus, Dratnalia, Propsilocerus, Symbiocladius, Trissocladius on the presence acrostichals setae. Zelentsoviella gen. nov. is separated from Abiskomyia by the presence of megaseta of gonostylus and the absence of a parallel anal point, from Bryophaenocladius by the presence of very complex shape gonostylus, from Hydrobaenus and Zalutschia by the absence of virga and by anal point shape.
