Distribution: BRAZIL. Espírito Santo, Bahia, Sergipe, Paraíba, Pernambuco, and Ceará. WWF Ecoregions: NT0103, NT0104, NT0106, NT0151, NT0152, respectively, Bahia coastal forests, Bahia interior forests, Caatinga Enclaves moist forests, Pernambuco coastal forests and Pernambuco interior forests. There is a record of distribution of the genus in Colombia (!) in an identification key ( Mello-Leitão, 1926: 330). This is doubtless a mistake.

Type species: Pseudopucrolia spinosa Roewer, 1912 , by monotypy.

Diagnosis: Three mesotergal areas; mesotergal area III with paired armature ( Figs 5A , 7A , 9A , 11). Free tergite II with variable median and lateral armature. Dorsal anal operculum bearing an apophysis or at least an elevation in the middle ( Figs 5F , 7F , 9F ). Calcaneus I mostly with same colour as astragalus (except for P. mutica ) and about half the size of metatarsus I. Femur IV ( Figs 6 , 8 , 10 ) only slightly curved in dorsal view and straight in lateral view without dorsobasal apophysis and with row of rounded tubercles on the prolateral margin, increasing in size progressively towards the apex of the femur. Male genitalia ( Fig. 12C–H ). Four setae of the distal group equal sized. Dorsal digitiform process in glans present.
