Body length 37.9–65.2 mm (♂); 31.8 mm (♀).

Description. Major male. Body reddish to brownish, surface sparsely setose and metallic. Head, including widest region of mandibular bases, 1.5× width of pronotum and elytra. Head reddish to brownish, metallic, and punctate; mandibles incurved along midlength and anteriorly; major inner mandibular tooth located approximately 1/3 length of mandibles, sharply triangular and protruding anteriorly;>8 small inner mandibular teeth located along midlength to apical mandibles, but not extending distally. Apical mandibular forks strongly developed and open anteriorly, upper branches of apical fork 2× length of lower apical fork branches; anterolateral ridges of head mat, posterolateral head subparallel with anterolateral ridges; clypeolabrum well developed, trapezoidal; labrum triangular, protruding along midlength. Thorax brownish, usually darker than head, surface metallic and clearly punctate; convex at apex and base, significantly protruding at middle; 0.66× length of head and mandibles; prothoracic tibiae reddish, each bearing>5 weakly developed spines from apex to midlength; mesothoracic tibiae reddish, each bearing 2–3 spines along midlength; metathoracic tibiae reddish, each bearing two poorly developed spines distally. Elytra reddish, usually concolorous with head, less setose and shinning along suture; slender, widest at apical 1/3, strongly narrow at basal 1/3. Median male as major male except: head with mandibles weakly incurved along midlength to apices; major inner mandibular tooth slightly protruding forward. Minor male as major and median males except: head with mandibles poorly incurved along midlength but significantly incurved anteriorly; major inner mandibular tooth single-pointed, 1–2 small inner mandibular teeth located above major mandibular tooth. Genitalia. Ventral plate of 9th abdominal segment with thin longitudinal membranous area along midline of apical expansion; basal piece oblong, 0.45× length of entire aedeagus; apical flagellum weakly enlarged, flagellum 0.45× length of entire aedeagus; aedeagus slender, incurved at basal 1/3, triangular distally.

Female. Body brownish, surface less setose, metallic along elytral suture; body slender, always smaller than male. Head black; surface punctate and metallic; mandibles incurved along midlength and apical 1/3; mandibular tooth well developed, asymmetrical; right mandibular tooth triangular, that of left smooth and convex along midlength; preocular and postocular margins weakly developed, forming acute angles, and protruding anteriorly; clypeolabrum weakly protruding at middle. Thorax pronotum always concolorous with head, surface shinning; densely punctate; anterior pronotum enlarged, 1.25× width of posterolateral pronotum; prothoracic tibiae black, each bearing five spines from anterior to midlength; distal two spines sharp, strongly developed; prothoracic tibiae 1.42× width of mesothoracic and metathoracic tibiae; mesothoracic tibiae black, each bearing two spines along midlength; metathoracic tibiae black, each bearing a single spine at basal 1/3. Elytra black, metallic, somewhat brighter than head and pronotum; oval, widest at apical 1/3, strongly narrow at basal 1/3.

Distribution. China (Guangdong).

Phenology. Adult specimens of L. zhuxiangi were collected during mid-June.

Natural history. Typical plants for this species are still unknown. Adult longevity is around 15-20 days.

Collecting methods. Light-trap collected.
