Diagnosis: The fasciate markings on the elytral disc will distinguish members of this species from P. bicolor , in which elytral fascia are not present (compare Figs 93, 94 View Figs 90-96 ).
Description: This species was adequately described and illustrated by SOLERVICENS (1998: 81). Additional characteristics involve: Antenna as in Figs 11, 12 View Figs 1-27 , pronotum as in Fig. 38 View Figs 28-43 , elytral asetiferous punctation striate, epipleural margin serrulate along entire length of epipleural margin, and habitus as in Fig. 93. View Figs 90-96
Variation: Size: Length 4.0-8.0 mm; width 1.5-3.0 mm. The antennae display
sexual dimorphism with the capitulum much more developed in males ( Figs 11, 12 View Figs 1-27 ).
Distribution ( Fig.70 View Fig 70 ): In addition to a paratype I examined 18 specimens from: Chile, Región Coquimbo, Alqui Valley, 21-22-XI-1988; Región Coquimbo, Chañarel de Aceituna, 23-25-X-1957, L.
