Lectotype (Scholz in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 252. 2000): [icon] "Arista tortili aliquantisper recurva, prodeunte ex ipso alterutrius glumae apice, folliculo brevissimo parvo" in Scheuchzer, Agrostographia: 148, t. 3, f. 11 C. 1719. - Epitype (Scholz in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 252. 2000): France. Champs des argiles oxfordiennes à Bougon près de La Mothe-Saint-Héray ( Deux-Sèvres), 30 Jul 1853, Sauzé & Maillard s.n. [C. Billot, Fl. Gall. Germ. Exsicc. No. 1363] (B).

Current name: Gastridium ventricosum (Gouan) Schinz & Thell. View in CoL ( Poaceae ).

Note: Although Linnaeus (Sp. Pl., ed. 2, 2: 1676. 1763) subsequently placed Agrostis ventricosa Gouan (1762) in the synonymy of M. lendigerum , Gouan’s name was published in April 1762 and consequently has priority over M. lendigerum (published on 20 Sep 1762).
