Toccolosida nigraregina N. Singh, Kirti & Ranjan , sp. nov. ( Figs. 1 View FIGURES 1–3 , 6 View FIGURES 4–7 , & 7)
Type locality: Kawrthah, Mizoram, India.
Type material. Holotype, ♀, India, Mizoram, Kawrthah , 717 m, 10.ix.2016, Rahul Ranjan leg.
Paratype: 1 ♀, same data as holotype .
Diagnosis: Toccolosida nigraregina , sp. nov. is distinct from its congeners by its uniform black forewings, without any line or marking. Morphologically, T. nigraregina ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–3 ) closely resembles T. rubriceps but differs in the thorax, the base of the patagia and the entire abdomen being black. In females of T. rubriceps ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–3 ), thorax, patagia and 1 st abdominal segment are bright crimson. In female genitalia of T. rubriceps ( Figs. 4, 5 View FIGURES 4–7 ), papillae anales with outer margins constricted at dorsal end and convex at ventral end, apophyses are comparatively small, whereas in T. igraregina ( Fig. 6, 7 View FIGURES 4–7 ), dorsal end of papillae anales bell-shaped, protruding posteriad from the ovipositor area, and apophyses significantly longer.
Description: Adult female (wing expanse 35mm). Head with frons and vertex crimson, antennae fasciculate, fuscous, and tinged with pale brownish scales. Labial palpi porrect, covered with black and pale brownish scales; basal scales of proboscis fuscous brown, maxillary palpi short. Thorax black; collar and patagia crimson, latter with base black; legs fuscous brown. Forewings uniformly black. Hindwings yellow, with costa beyond middle, apical area, termen, inner margin (except basal region) black. Cilia of both wings blackish. Abdomen black. Female genitalia with papillae anales bell shaped; length of anterior apophyses 1.5 times than posterior apophyses; ostium bursae membranous, narrow, rectangular; antrum tubular, slightly sclerotised, wrinkled, almost twice as long as wide; ductus seminalis entering anterior of antrum; ductus bursae elongated, wrinkly sclerotised, anterior end gradually widening into corpus bursae; corpus bursae oval, membranous, signum absent.
Male: Unknown.
Etymology: The name of the species refers to its beautiful black forewings and is derived from the Latin ‘ nigra ’, meaning “black”, and ‘ regina ’, meaning “queen”.
