Pyroderces Herrich-Schäffer, 1853 View in CoL
Pyroderces Herrich-Schäffer, 1853: 12 View in CoL (key), 47.
Type species: Pyroderces goldeggiella Herrich-Schäffer, 1853 (= Cosmopteryx argyrogrammos Zeller, 1847 ), by monotypy.
Remarks. Pyroderces is characterized by the forewing ground color varying from yellowish to reddish brown, with distinct stripes or spots. Superficially it is similar to Anatrachyntis Meyrick , but can be distinguished in males by the tegumen broad, square or rounded, somewhat bulging with a strengthening longitudinal ridge mid-dorsally; in females the signa are paired long rows of carinae or sclerotized spines. In Anatrachyntis , the tegumen is long and narrow, without median ridge; and the signa are absent.
