Diagnosis. In its combination of characters, including left mandible truncate at apex and elytra not fused along suture, Ch. loeffleri is most similar to Ch. irvinei , but slightly larger (length 6.8–7.8 mm, width 3.0– 3.4 mm), dorsal microsculpture developed throughout, distinct, pronotal basal angle with a tiny acute denticle protruding laterally, elytral sutural angle narrowly rounded just at tip, metacoxa with or without an additional, somewhat large medial setigerous pore, male pro- and especially mesotarsi less widened, protarsus with only tarsomeres 2–4 and mesotarsus with only tarsomeres 2 and 3 bearing adhesive vestiture, median lobe of aedeagus relatively smaller (MLL/L 0.21–0.24 versus 0.31–0.32), slightly concave along ventral margin (lateral view) and with a wider spiny patch at middle of median lobe.
Distribution ( Fig. 38 View FIGURE 38 , ‘red circle’ and ‘red square’). Upper sources of the Tama Koshi River in the Greater Himalaya of eastern Central Nepal and southern Tibet: Rolwaling Valley (= Himalayan longitudinal Valley in eastern Central Nepal), and Rongshar valley (= uppermost portion of the Tama Koshi Valley in southern Tibet).
Remarks. The species forms two subspecies in two geographically adjacent valley systems.
