Two gatherings, Huai-De Zeng 22373 and Shao-Qing Chen 4109, were designated as male and female “type” in Chinese, respectively, in the protologue ( Chang 1954). The one we designate as the lectotype is in good conditions and has numerous flowers in the paper bag attached to the sheet. This species was originally described from Guangxi. It is treated as a synonym of Eurya stenophylla Merrill (1922: 502) var. stenophylla by Ming & Bartholomew (2007).
