Genus Inglisia Maskell, 1879 View in CoL
Type species: Inglisia patella Maskell, 1879 View in CoL
Inglisia patella View in CoL is known only from New Zealand, and was redescribed by Hodgson & Henderson (2000). It is unlike any other known soft scale and it is clear that none of the other seven species currently included in the genus are congeneric with it. Here the three African species, I. grevilliae Hall, 1935 , I. pluvialis Hodgson, 1967b View in CoL and I. theobromae Newstead, 1917 View in CoL are transferred to Cryptinglisia Cockerell, 1900 View in CoL as C. grevilliae (Hall) comb. nov. ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ), C. pluvialis (Hodgson) View in CoL comb. nov. ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ) and C. theobromae (Newstead) View in CoL comb. nov. ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ). A full description of C. pluvialis View in CoL is given by Hodgson (1969), while C. grevilliae and C. theobromae View in CoL are fully described in Hodgson (1967b).
It would appear that Cryptinglisia View in CoL has two centres of population, Central and South America and South Africa. There do not appear to be any clear morphological characters separating these 11 species into subgroups.
