Cnodalia harpax Thorell, 1890 View in CoL

Diagnosis (we have studied a male specimen of Cnodalia harpax from Japan). Males of this species can be distinguished from those of C. quadrituberculata n. sp. by the embolus without a membranous lamella found in that of C. quadrituberculata n. sp. Males of C. harpax can be distinguished from those of C. flavescens n. sp. by the tapered tip of embolus (cap-shaped in C. flavescens n. sp.). According to Tanikawa (2006, 2007b) females of C. harpax can be distinguished from those of C. quadrituberculata n. sp. by having the abdomen with only two humps (four in C. quadrituberculata n. sp.), the epigynum 1.9 times wider than its length (1.5 times in C. quadrituberculata n. sp.). Females of harpax differ from those of C. flavescens n. sp. by having the abdominal humps extended frontward (upturned in C. flavescens n. sp.).
