Habitat.
Sandy bottoms in subtidal zones down to 50 m depth ( Robba et al. 2004; Okutani 2017).
Distribution.
Gulf of Oman to India; Indo-West Pacific, from Japan to Papua New Guinea ( Cernohorsky 1984; Robba et al. 2004; Okutani 2017). Records of fossils from the Holocene in Thailand ( Robba et al. 2004).
Record in Thailand.
Gulf of Thailand ( Wells et al. 2021).
Taxonomic remarks and comparisons.
This species differs from its similar species, Nassarius comptus (A. Adams, 1852) , by having a longer body whorl with narrowly subcanaliculate sutures, a more prominent varix, and a narrower and more elongate aperture ( Cernohorsky 1984).
