Diagnosis: Length 1.8 to 2.4 mm; width 1.0 to 1.7 mm. Dorsal color largely black to dark brown; head pale brown to orange; pronotum with lateral and anterior margins pale brown; elytra usually with posterior and lateral margins pale brown, except for humeral calli. Ventral color black to dark brown, except legs, antennae and mouthparts orange brown. Males with impunctate, triangular area at center of first ventrite; fifth ventrite slightly emarginate; sixth ventrite truncate, slightly depressed. Male genitalia with long, narrow parameres; penis guide wide, with narrow apex ( Figs. 25, 26 View Figs ); penis curved in basal 2/3, straight and slightly narrow in apical 1/3 ( Fig. 27 View Figs ).
Material Examined: More than 90 specimens ( CIUM, FIC) .
Distribution: Almost all the Americas ( González 2015; Gordon 1976, 1985, 2000). In Mexico, this species has been collected in the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California Norte, Chihuahua, Ciudad de México, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, México (state), Michoacán, Morelos, Nuevo León, Sonora, Tamaulipas and Veracruz ( Dugés 1896; Flores-Mejía and Salas-Araiza 2004; García-Coapio 2005; Gorham 1897; Juárez-Monroy 1986; Lomelí-Flores et al. 2001; López-PiÑa and Ponce-Saavedra 2017; Marín-Jarillo and Bújanos-MuÑiz 2008; Nestor-Arriola et al. 2008; Pérez-Ávila 2016; Rodríguez-Vélez et al. 2016, 2019a; Rojas-Rivera 2006; Ruíz and Coronado 2002; Zaragoza-Caballero et al. 2019).
Biology: In Mexico, this species has been collected in the biomes of high evergreen forest, deciduous forest, high scrub, gallery forest, mesophilic forest, oak forest and evergreen forest with oak. It has been collected on Psidium guajava L. ( Myrtaceae ), Vachellia spp. , Vachellia farnesiana (L.) Willd et Arn, Allium sativum L.( Amaryllidaceae ), Opuntia sp. ( Cactaceae ), Medicago sativa L. ( Fabaceae ), Phaseolus vulgaris L. ( Fabaceae ), Nerium oleander L. ( Apocynaceae ) and Ipomoea arborescens (Humb. et Bonpl. ex Willd) G. Don ( Convolvulaceae ). It has been recorded preying on Melanaphis sacchari ( Rodríguez-Vélez et al. 2016) , Dactylopius sp. ( Hemiptera : Dactylopiidae ) (Marín-Jarillo and Bújanos-MuÑiz 2008), and several aphid species on sorghum and barley crops ( Lomelí-Flores et al. 2001).
