( Figs. 45 – 47 View FIGURES 40 – 48 )
Hylobothynus obesus Ohaus, 1910: 678 .
Diagnosis. Endrödi (1985) differentiated Hylobothynus obesus using the basal margin of the pronotum strongly bordered, which is not bordered at its base in H. columbianus . Furthermore, the pygidium of H. obesus is sparsely punctate on the lateral angles, whereas it is more punctate in H. columbianus . The parameres of H. obesus are shorter and wider ( Figs. 46–47 View FIGURES 40 – 48 ) than those of H. columbianus ( Figs. 41–42 View FIGURES 40 – 48 ).
Locality records. ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 40 – 48 ) Holotype, 1♂. Ecuador: Jivaria [ZMHU]. Amazonas ( Colombia): La Chorrera, 30 km aval de La Chorrera, río Iguara-Parana.
Distribution. Ecuador ( Endrödi 1969), Colombia, and Peru ( Dechambre 1979, Ratcliffe 1981).
Natural history. Nothing is known about its natural history.
