Germalus telekii View in CoL sp.nov.
( Figs. 3 View FIGURE 3 A, 4)
Studied material. Type material. Holotype: “ Uganda Prot. / Mpanga Forest, / Toro. 4,800ft / 13-23 Nov. 1911. / S.A.Neave. ” (1♀, BMNH)
Colouration. Body generally ochraceous but darker in hue than by the previous species. Head with a slight, fuscous median line extending from tip of clypeus to middle of vertex. Posterior part of ocular sulcus somewhat darker. Eyes reddish, ocelli hyaline. Thorax. Punctation of pronotum, scutellum and hemielytra blackish. Thoracic pleura and sterna with blackish punctuation. Base of scutellum darker, almost fuscous; triradiate carina pale ochraceous. Meso- and metapleura infused with pale red. Legs unicolorous ochraceous. Abdomen. Abdominal segments pale reddish brown.
Structure. Body oval, elongate. Head dull, impunctate; covered with fine pubescence. Eyes stylate, eye-stalks slightly directed forwards. Ocular sulcus conspicuous and complete. Ocelli situated on posterior part of vertex, near ocular sulcus. Clypeus rounded, exceeding the mandibular plate. Antennal segments missing except segment I reaching tip of clypeus. Labial segment I reaching base of head, apex of segment IV reaching metacoxae (labial segment ratio: 14:12:13:12). Thorax. Pronotum trapezoidal, carinate, narrowing gradually towards posterior margin with less conspicuous median impression than in G. oroszi . Punctation less dense and finer than on previous species. Anterior and posterior margins, callosities and humeral angles impunctate. Scutellum finely punctate except slightly elevated median triradiate carina. Punctures on pronotum and scutellum with fine, decumbent setae. Clavus with irregular, incomplete punctuation along scutellar and corial margins, punctuation along claval commissure almost complete. Punctuation along corial veins complete, with irregularly dense punctures between M and R veins. Costal area widening to apical third. Corial punctures with fine setae similarly to pronotum and scutellum. Thoracic pleuron finely and densely punctate except the anterior and posterior margin of segments. Auricle of metathoracic scent gland ridged; situated laterally, near anterior margin of metapleuron. Abdominal segments impunctate with fine decumbent pubescence on connexiva.
Measurements (holotype). body length: 4.54; head length: 0.57, -width: 1.25; distance of ocelli: 0.39; antennal segments: 0.21; labial segments; 0.54-0.46-0.5-0,46; pronotum length: 1.04, -width: 1.41; scutellum length: 0.75, -width: 0.61.
Discussion. This species differs from the other African members of the genus in the overall ochraceous colouration combined with fine, blackish punctuation and the sparse punctures in R-M region.
Etymology. This species was named in the honour of count Sámuel Teleki (1845-1916), Hungarian traveller, leader of the first expedition to the northern part of Kenya (1887-1888), explorer among others of Turkana (=Rudolf-) lake and Teleki’s volcano; collector of many plant and animal species ( Vojnits 2013, in Hungarian).
