Distribution. South China Sea, near Vietnam, and East China Sea, near Taiwan, 170– 760 m.
Remarks. An intermediate valve of a specimen from Suruga Bay, illustrated by Saito
(1997, fig. 13) and identified as Lepidozona reevei Kaas & Van Belle 1987 is very similar to the valves of L. acostata and may belong to it ( Sirenko 2016b). In this case this species inhabits the Suruga Bay, like several representatives of the genera Leptochiton , Hanleyella , Nierstraszella and Notoplax found both, in Suruga Bay and in Taiwan.
