Remarks. This species is cosmopolitan and has been introduced all over the world for biological control purposes. It is particularly common in America. This species has been frequently reported on apple, pear and citrus and also on horticultural plants. According to a recent phylogenetic analysis (Tsolakis et al., 2012), N. californicus would belong to a genus defined by Athias-Henriot and not considered in the Phytoseiidae revision of Chant & McMurtry (2007): Cydnodromus .
