The convolutiva View in CoL -group
The general conformation of the palps of the convolutiva - and decorata -groups is similar, and is supported by male characters such as the filiform embolus and the pronounced tegular spine. They can be separated by the different forms of TA and RTA. The complicated TA and strongly pronounced RTA may be regarded as derived conditions for the convolutiva -group. The membranous posterior margin on the embolic base is peculiar. The female opisthosomal pattern, the lenticular epigyne, and the strongly convoluted distal part of the spermathecae indicate that its affinities lie near the decorata -group. Representatives of the convolutiva -group can be distinguished from those of the decorata -group by a reduced opisthosomal pattern and the longer posterior ventral spines.
