Stems 30-90 cm, branched above. Leaves with yellow eglandular hairs; basal up to 12 x 3 cm, fugacious, oblanceolate, lyrate, with an ovate, denticulate to dentate terminal segment nearly i as long as whole leaf, and 2-4 small opposite pairs of lateral segments; lower cauline similar, middle and upper sublyrate or panduriform to ovate or lanceolate. Capitula 2-12. Involucre 9-11 x 6-10 mm; bracts linear-lanceolate, long-acute, the outer as long as inner, with numerous, unequal glandular hairs. Achenes 5-6 x 0-5-0-8 mm, brown, cylindrical, c. 20-ribbed. 2« =12. Damp places. • Mountains of S. W. Europe, from N. Portugal to S.C. France. Ga Hs Lu.
