Stems 25-150(-250) cm, glabrous. Leaves 40-180 x 5-40 mm, all cauline, elliptical, oblong or panduriform, sometimes linear ( var. angustifolia Koch ), acute, entire to sinuate-dentate, rarely lyrate-pinnatifid, glaucous. Inflorescence a much-branched panicle of numerous, narrow capitula. Involucre 10-15x 3-5 mm; bracts lanceolate, obtuse, the outer and median as long as the inner. 2n — 18.
