Stem-wings up to 6 mm wide. Leaf-lobes narrowly triangular, with 2-4 pairs of spiny teeth. Capitula subglobose; involucral bracts rather abruptly contracted into a spiny process 15-20 mm, the bracts glabrous. S. & C. Greece; Turkey-in-Europe.
