Key for the separation of males of the three Stigmacoccus View in CoL species seen in this study
(Note: because the only available male of S. paranaensis had been removed from the pupal case and its limbs were not fully expanded, these differences may need to be treated with caution).

- Penial sheath at least 2.5 times longer than broad; hairs absent on venter of abdomen; prosternal setae very few or absent on either side of prosternum, without lp ............................................................................... 2
2. Post-tergites represented by long diagonal sclerite; postoccipital ridge narrow, not broadening laterally; scutellum without a membranous area at anterior end ..................................................................... S. asper View in CoL
- Post-tergites not represented by a long diagonal sclerite but by two mildly sclerotised triangular areas; postoccipital ridge broad, widening laterally; scutellum with a membranous area near anterior margin of scutellum .................................................................................................................................
