Notes: The shape of the distal hooks of the Mexican specimens (particularly blade/handle ratio) differs of the original (see Scholz & Salgado-Maldonado 2001).

VERACRUZ: Río Tecolutla: Phalacrocorax brasilianus ( Scholz et al. 2002) ; Humedal Los Chivos: Phalacrocorax brasilianus (present study). YUCATÁN: Chuburná (Progreso): Cochlearius cochlearius (Ortega- Olivares et al. 2008).

Notes: The specimens collected in Chirostoma jordani from Guanajuato and those from Río Tecolutla in Phalacrocorax brasilianus are conspecific and probably new to science. The specimens from Chuburná (Progreso) represent a distinct species (see Scholz et al. 2002; Ortega-Olivares et al. 2008).
