Remarks. This species was described based on syntypes from Brazil, without further details. Later, Dupont (1838) described Oxymerus deletus based on a single specimen (Ḩdepohl 1979) from Dejean’s collection. Ḩdepohl (1979) designated a lectotype for O. basalis and examined the holotype of O. deletus , synonymizing it with O. basalis . Currently, it is known from Martinique, Venezuela, French Guiana, Brazil (Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Distrito Federal, Mato Grosso, Maranh„o, Goiás, Ceará, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, S„o Paulo, and Paraná), Peru, Bolivia (Santa Cruz and Tarija), and Paraguay ( Bezark 2023b; Monné 2023a; Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023). Ḩdepohl (1979) examined specimens from the Brazilian city of Corumbá (Mato Grosso). However, in 1977 the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso was divided into the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. As Corumbá is in Mato Grosso do Sul, the presence of Oxymerus basalis has already been reported there. Buck (1959) recorded this species from Cerro Largo, a city from the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, a state not recorded in the catalogs and checklists.

Material examined. BRAZIL, Tocantins (new state record): Marianóplis, Fazenda Inajá, 9º38’48.86”S 49º36’47.41”W, Hevea brasiliensis [ Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex A. Mato Grosso do Sul: Selvíria, UNESP Farm, 20º22’58.96”S 51º24’41.62”W, cerrad„o fragment in advanced stage of regeneration, ethanol-baited FIT, 1 female, 15.X.2022, G. Paiola leg. ( MEFEIS).
