Note: Geniates vittatus Lucas,1857 and Bolax vittatus Casey, 1915 are conspecific taxa and are considered members of the genus Trizogeniates , thus they are homonyms. According to Article 60.2 ( ICZN 1999), if the rejected junior homonym has one or more potentially valid synonyms, the oldest of these names is the valid name of the taxon ( T. foveicollis in this case). If no synonym would have been known, then a replacement name would have been necessary. As such, Trizogeniates caseyi is an unavailable name that was proposed when a valid synonym was available. Also see “Note” in the catalog entry for B. magna regarding synonymy of B. vittata by Ratcliffe (2002).
