MATERIAL EXAMINED: Holotype female: Guayana, Mazurini: 2nd, growth (low forest) 19.VIII.1937, O. W. Richards leg. ( BMNH).
HOLOTYPE FEMALE: Mandible proximally rather evenly tapered, with upper tooth slightly longer than lower tooth. Malar space about 0.2 times basal mandibular width. Face polished, with some shallow setiferous punctures, about 1.1 times as wide as medially high. Lengthtothickness ratio of first flagellomere about 5.7. Head, in dorsal view, with gena weakly but evenly rounded behind eye; posterior ocellus separated from compound eye by 1.4 times its own maximum diameter; ocelli forming an equilateral triangle; occipital carina present ventrally as a vestige, joining hypostomal carina. Pronotum bare, in profile rather long and mediodorsally rather short. Mesoscutum anteriorly with some yellow hairs, centrally bare, anteriorly moderately rounded, with distinct notauli. Mesopleuron highly polished, with some setiferous punctures, with some light hairs; epicnemial carina low, not reaching the level of lower corner of pronotum; epicnemium with a secondary carina adjacent to front coxa. Metapleuron very weakly convex, smooth and polished, with very few setiferous punctures; submetapleural carina totally absent. Propodeum in profile rather weakly declivous, smooth and laterally with some setiferous punctures; pleural carina absent. Fore wing length about 11.0 mm; vein 3rsm complete, enclosing an obliquely rhombic areolet. Hind wing with abscissa of Cu1 between M and cua somewhat bowed, about 2.0 times as long as cua. Length of hind femur about 4.3 times its breadth. Metasoma quite stout; tergite 1 about 1.0 times as long as posteriorly broad, with a smooth central area that is defined by distinct lateromedian carinae up to apex, with lateral carinae present, but interrupted centrally; tergite 1 in profile dorsally evenly convex; tergite 2 about 0.6 times as long as posteriorly broad, with a distinct central area, lateral oblique and posterior transverse grooves polished with distinct coarse punctures; tergites 35 with a smooth central area, the surrounding furrows finely punctate. Ovipositor projecting beyond apex of metasoma by about 3.3 times length of hind tibia; ovipositor shaft slender, straight, laterally slightly compressed; ovipositor subapically subcylindrical; apex of lower valve dorsolaterally expanded to partially enclose the upper valve, bearing about ten slightly oblique apical teeth; apex of upper valve with about seven weak dorsal teeth.
Head black with mandible dark brown, other mouthparts whitish; first three flagellomeres of antenna (antenna broken) black; mesosoma orange except for dark pronotum with orange dorsal and apical margins; metasoma orange, tergites from 5 to apex black with tergite 5 with thin light basal and apical margins. Legs dark, fore and middle coxa and trochantera on a large part whitish, bases of middle and hind coxae orange, fore sides of fore and middle femora orange, hind femur wholly orange. Wings slightly yellowish, fore wing with apex distal 3 rsm blackish, and with a blackish median band extending from Rs & M to level of middle of pterostigma; pterostigma blackish.
MALE unknown.
DIAGNOSIS: A. guayanaensis differs most distinctly from all the other known species in the genus, except A. taunoi , by lacking the submetapleural carinae. It differs from A. taunoi by lacking distinct pleural carinae and by having strong lateromedian carinae in the first tergite.
ETYMOLOGY: The specific name refers to the type locality of this species.
