Type Locality: Australia, South Australia, Ooldea.

Vernacular Names: Ooldea Dunnart.

Distribution: Edge of Nullarbor Plain (South Australia), Western Australia, S Northern Territory.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: S. psammophila species-group. Originally described as a subspecies of murina , but considered a distinct species by Archer (1975:243) and Kirsch and Calaby (1977:15).
