Cylindrophis lineata — Dennys, 1880b: 2.
Remarks. Cylindrophis lineatus was described by Blanford (1881) from a specimen he received from Dennys at the Raffles Museum. The specimen was believed to have been captured in Singapore and this was given as the type locality. In some hitherto overlooked newspaper articles written by Dennys (1880a, 1880 b, 1881b), he reported on a second specimen of C. lineatus in his possession at the Raffles Museum (now lost), and unintentionally named and described the species before Blanford (1881). These articles have recently been analysed ( Figueroa & Low 2021) and the correct authority and date of publication of Cylindrophis lineatus is Dennys (1880b). The type locality as Singapore was questioned going back to Boulenger (1912), and Figueroa & Low (2021) demonstrated that C. lineatus is endemic to Borneo and designated Borneo as the type locality.
