Length: 16.5 mm; Breadth: 7.0 mm. Habitus as in Fig. 8 View FIGURES 5 – 8 .
Diagnosis. Large sized, dark reddish brown, disk of head and pronotum darker, legs with tibiae darker than femora; head slightly longer than wide, HL/HW=1.1, labrum emarginate at frontal margin, clypeus 6-setose, eyes large and prominent, pronotum transverse, PW/PL=1.65, widest behind middle; elytra elongate-ovate, EL/ EW=1.58; slightly convex, well bordered at base, sides paralleled at middle, apex obliquely emarginated, with outer angle broad, inner angle pointed; elytral striae very shallow, intervals very flat; legs moderate, fore tibia stout, dilated at apex, outer angle somewhat rectangular, obtuse; claws weakly pectinate, femora without long setae, replaced by a few short ones, hind tibial spurs long and sharp, hind tarsomeres 3 and 4 subequal in length, tarsomere 4 deeply bilobed.
Male: Unknown.
Material. 1 female, labeled “ Sumatra ”, “Coll. Kraatz.”, “Ex Deutsch. Ent. Mus.”, “ H. E. Andrewes Coll. B. M. 1945-97 ”, “ Hexachaetus laevissimus Chaud. , compared with type. E. B. B.”, and “ Hexachaetus laevissimus Chaud. H. E. Andrewes det”, deposited in NHML, London.
Remarks. There is no specimen under the label “ Hexachaetus laevissimus Chaud. ” in Chaudoir’s Collection, MNHN. That means the type is probably lost.
Distribution. Malaysia and Indonesia ( Fig. 20 View FIGURE 20 f).
