Artbeschreibung: 100-150 cm hoch. Blätter bis 2 cm breit, kahl oder spärlich behaart. Ähre ohne die Grannen (5-) 10-16 cm lang, dicht, +/- 4kantig, oft nickend. Achse nicht brüchig. Ährchen mit 4-5 Blüten. Hüllspelzen lanzettlich bis lineal, 25-35 mm lang, mit breitem, weisslichem Hautrand, gekielt. Deckspelze unbegrannt oder mit bis 15 cm langer Granne.
