Red Sea main basin: Egypt ( Goren & Spanier 1985), Eritrea ( Borsieri 1904, as Glyphidodon coelestinus ; Tortonese 1935, as Glyphisodon sexfasciatus ), Saudi Arabia ( Roux-Estève & Fourmanoir 1955).
General distribution: Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa east to Marquesas and Gambier islands .
Remark: A single specimen was photographed in Greece, Mediterranean Sea, probably an aquarium release (see Giovos et al., in press).

General distribution: Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: East Africa east to Samoa and Tonga.
