Type data: This variety was described based on a single male specimen collected by the German scientist Curt Schrottky (1874–1937) in Jundiaí, southeastern Brazil. Schrottky was one of the first European entomologist who resided in South America ( Rasmussen et al. 2009). Once in Brazil, he settled in São Paulo state ( Rasmussen et al. 2009). He started collecting insects in the city of Jundiaí, where the specimen studied by Friese was caught.
According to Moure et al. (2007) the holotype is housed at ZMB but unfortunately it was not found there. Its current condition and depository are unknown .
