Remarks. This is first record of the genus Marshiella Shaw, 1985 in the Afrotropical region.
According to the key to the Nearctic species of the genus Marshiella ( Shaw, 1985; Shaw & Marsh, 2000) , Marshiella madecassa ( Granger, 1949) , comb. nov. is very similar to M. pulvillicornis ( Walley et MacKay, 1963) ( Walley & MacKay, 1963), known only from Canada, by its small body size and small number of flagellar segments (16), but the Malagasy species distinctly differs from it by the long and distinctly apically narrowed scapus of the antenna (in lateral view), the different shape and without apico-medial excision of basal flagellar segments, long apical flagellar segments, short radial (marginal) cell and evenly curved second radial abscissa (3- SR+SR1) of fore wing, coarse and entirely rugulose precoxal suture of mesosoma, entirely and distinctly rugosereticulate propodeum, and mainly dark reddish-brown mesosoma.
This species distinctly differs from the all Eastern Palaearctic and Oriental species of Marshiella (Chen & van Achterberg, 1997; Belokobylskij, 2000a, 2000b) by its strongly compressed and widened first to fourth flagellar segments (lateral view) ( Fig. 50 View FIGURES 45–55 ).
