Description. Female (n=135). Body length 5.5–6.6 mm; length of fore wing 4.5–5.3 (Original description: 4.5) mm.
Head 0.6 times as long as wide; clypeus 0.6 times as long as wide, narrowly punctate dorsally, center part of apical half more or less with longitudinal striae or shagreened, its margin convex to subtruncate in anterior view ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 F); anterior tentorial pit small ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 F), its margin not concealed by setae; face 0.7 times as long as wide, punctures on center part longitudinally elongated; frons covered with punctures, area above antennal sockets transversely striated by coalescent punctures, and with longitudinal smooth area medially ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 M); OOL 1.0–1.4 times as long as OD; POL 1.0–1.3 (Original description: 1.1) times as long as OD; lower end of occipital carina effaced ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 F); GOI 0.3; lower part of gena with strong concavity in lateral view ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 F); malar space 0.8 times as long as basal width of mandible; mandibular base flat ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 L). Antenna with 21–23 (Original description: 20) flagellomeres; flagellomere I 1.1–1.2 times as long as II, and terminal flagellomere 2.2–3.0 (Original description: 2.2) times as long as preceding one; sensilla placodea present on flagellomere III and following all flagellomeres.
Mesosoma ( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5 F, 6 F, 7 F, 8 F): ventral margin of pronotum angulate ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 F); upper end of epomia distant from upper margin of pronotum in lateral view ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 F); lateral area of pronotum punctate except for small smooth area on lower 0.2–0.3 ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 F); mesoscutum with weak notaulus on anterior 0.3; smooth area around episternal scrobe rather small; upper end of epicnemial carina reaching lower 0.2 of pronotum; juxtacoxal carina absent ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 K); lateral longitudinal, pleural and posterior transverse carinae of propodeum weakly present ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 F); anterior transverse carina present except for median part ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 F); lateromedian longitudinal carina present only anterior part, its coalescent ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 F); areas of propodeum not defined, punctate, and with small smooth spots on center of area superomedia (place if defined) and lateral parts of area dentipara (place if defined).
Fore wing: Cu-a distant from Rs&M by 0.4–0.8 times length of Cu-a; ICI 0.7–1.1. Hind wing: NI 5.0–10.0; one basal hamulus, 4–6 (usually 5 or 6) distal hamuli.

Ovipositor straight ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 K); ovipositor sheath 0.5–0.6 (Original description: 0.55) times as long as hind tibia.
Coloration ( Figs. 6 View FIGURE 6 F, 7 F, 9 F, G, 12 I): body (excluding legs) black, except for: yellow mandible except for black teeth and base; antenna blackish-brown with ventral side yellow to yellowish brown; yellow palpi; yellow tegula; stigma with yellowish brown, its margin dark brown; wing veins dark-brown except for yellow of extreme wing base; apex of T1 and following all tergites reddish brown to red; sternites yellow in membranous part, remainder sometimes tinged brown to reddish-brown; ovipositor sheath dark brown to black except for yellow apex; ovipositor yellowish-brown to brown. Distribution. Japan (Kunashiri Is., Rishiri Is., Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu and Tsushima Is.) ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 ).
Remarks. This species is closely similar to orientalis Kasparyan in the characters of head and coloration, and can be distinguished from the latter by the malar space 0.8 times as long as basal width of mandible in female (0.9– 1.0 times in orientalis ), the dense punctures on lateral part of pronotum behind epomia (sparse in orientalis ), the partly effaced propodeal carinae (completely present in orientalis ), the largely punctuated propodeum (relatively smooth S. orientalis smoother), the yellow tegula (black in orientalis ). This species also closely resembles auster sp. nov. and michinokuensis sp. nov., and can be easily distinguished from them (see remarks of auster and michinokuensis ). In Japan, this species is the most common species of Stilbops and usually collected at the shade or edge of various forests ( Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 A).
