Figs. 458, 489, map 3.
Holotype (female): Papua New Guinea, Madang Prov.: New Guinea, NE., Adelberg Mts. [= Adelbert Range], Wanuma [4° 35' S, 145° 10' E], 800–1000 m, 27.X.1958, J.L. Gressitt, depository: Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA ( BPBM). GoogleMaps
Diagnosis. The single female of the new species was collected together with P. abbreviata sp. n. It differs by the fastigium verticis having the dorsal margin straight, the female subgenital plate having a wide membranous central area, shallow basal grooves, and separate auricular lateral sclerites ( Figs. 458, 489). Moreover, the ovipositor is longer and the face provided with a vertical black band that is missing in P. abbreviata . The latter character may however prove to be not diagnostic. The specific shape of the female subgenital plate also differs from that of other Pseudonicsara species.
Description. Fastigium verticis with dorsal margin straight; tip angular; fastigium verticis in front of eyes 1.1 mm, from base 1.6 mm; dorsal eye length 1.7 mm; greatest diameter of eye 1.8 mm; index fastigium verticis from base: eye length 0.9.
Male unknown.
Female. Subgenital plate consisting of two short rounded lobes; each with a large shallow groove at base; both separated by a short grooved membranous central area divided by a median carina; a lateral carina at both sides of groove; with separate auricular lateral sclerites ( Figs. 458, 489).
Coloration. Medium brown, sides yellowish brown (green when alive?). Face with a vertical black band from median ocellus to clypeo-frontal suture. Tegmen with pattern of light veins and dark cells distinct.
Measurements of female: body 27; pronotum 8.8; tegmen 35; hind femur 23; antenna 115; ovipositor 23 mm.
Etymology. The name refers to the type locality; noun in apposition.
