30. Ponera rufipes HNS , N. S.
Worker, length 9 - 16 th of an inch; head oblong; eyes anterior, small; antennae short and thick; jaws triangular, finely toothed; thorax not furrowed, truncated posteriorly; abdominal pedicle wide, thick, truncated, and excavated posteriorly; abdomen long, the division of the joints strongly marked; body ridged, furrowed, and channeled throughout; antennae, legs, and end of abdomen dark rufous; rest of the body dull black.
I have procured this Ant only on one occasion, hitherto, in Malabar.
