TRICHADENOTECNUM PICHINCHA NEW View in CoL
& THORNTON
Trichadenotecnum pichincha New & Thornton, 1975: 73 View in CoL .
Specimens not examined: Judging from the original description and illustrations, this species from Ecuador does not possess any apomorphic character state of the genus Trichadenotecnum View in CoL as designated by Yoshizawa (2001, 2003); in particular, presence of a dorsal clunial flap indicates that this species is not even a member of the tribe Ptyctini View in CoL . This evidence indicates that the species must be removed from Trichadenotecnum View in CoL . However, this species shows peculiar male genital structures, and there seems to be no appropriate genus to place it. Therefore, we tentatively leave the species in Trichadenotecnum View in CoL and postpone proposing an official nomenclatural change.
Distribution: Ecuador.
