gen. nov.

Paraisoannulus gen. nov.

Type species. Paraisoannulus machiles sp. nov.

Diagnosis. Body fusiform, elongate; prodorsal shield with broad frontal lobe, scapular tubercles and setae (sc) near rear prodorsal shield margin, scapular setae projecting posteriorly; all coxal setae present; leg II with genual seta absent; opisthosoma evenly arched, with broad and subequal dorsal-ventral annuli, opisthosoma with all usual series of setae present except setae h1 which is absent; empodium entire; female genital coverflap appressed to coxal plates.

Etymology. The genus designation is derived from the combination of Para - which in Latin means to “bring forth” or “bear” and Isoannulus Chakrabarti & Pandit (Chakrabarti & Pandit 2009), to which the new genus is most similar. The gender is masculine.

Notes. The new genus is assigned to the following: Eriophyoidea , Eriophyidae , Cecidophyinae , Colomerini . It is similar to Isoannulus Chakrabarti & Pandit, 2009, but can be differentiated from the latter by the absence of genual seta on Leg II (genu II seta present in Isoannulus). The new genus is also similar to Casearius Boczek & Chandrapatya, 2000 , but can be differentiated from the latter by having the scapular setae (sc) projecting posteriorly (scapular setae projecting forward in Casearius ), setae 1a present on coxal plates (setae 1a absent in Casearius ), opisthosomal setae d and e present (setae d and e absent in Casearius ).
