Orasema cameroni Howard, 1897 View in CoL
urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act:698C3396-48DF-40DB-B0FB-2C5CCDE728DE ( Figs 19, 20 View FIGURES 19, 20 )
Orasema cameroni Howard, 1897: 133 View in CoL . Type material: Grenada: Balthazar ( Windward side), H.H. Smith, W.Indies, 99–331, B.M. TYPE HYM. 5.373.
Remarks. This species is only known from its broken type specimen, which lacks both antenna flagella. Diagnosis. Mesoscutal sidelobe almost entirely smooth. Mesoscutellum with longitudinal carinae. Orasema cameroni is similar to O. minutissima and related small-bodied species. It differs in having
longitudinal mesoscutellar carinae ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19, 20 ) in combination with a smooth mesoscutal sidelobe. Description. Female. Length 2.0 mm.
Color: Head and mesosoma greenish to bluish brown. Pedicel yellowish-brown; anellus yellowish-brown.
Coxae brown; fore and mid femora brown; hind femur yellow. Fore wing hyaline; venation pale brown. Petiole bluish brown; gaster brown with purple to bluish luster, acrosternite black.
Head: Face reticulate; eyes bare, supraclypeal area longer than broad, smooth; clypeus smooth [flagellum lost from only specimen].
Mesosoma: Mesosoma length:height 1.3. Mesoscutal midlobe reticulate with transverse carinae, with minute setae; lateral lobe almost entirely smooth, with short transverse carinae peripherally. Axilla reticulate with longitudinal carinae; mesoscutellar disc with longitudinal carinae and weak reticulate sculpture; frenal line regularly foveate; frenum nearly smooth; axillular groove broad and foveate posteriorly; axillula nearly smooth, with weak parallel longitudinal carinae. Propodeum with median carina, weakly areolate; callus areolate-reticulate, with 3–5 setae. Mesepisternum reticulate to areolate-reticulate laterally, smooth ventrally, broadly rounded anterior to mid coxa. Upper mesepimeron smooth; lower mesepimeron weakly areolate-reticulate; transepimeral sulcus distinct. Metepisternum laterally smooth dorsally, weakly reticulate ventrally. Hind femur 5.8× as long as broad. Fore wing 2.9× as long as broad, 2.8× as long as mesothorax; stigma with 4 sensilla separated into pairs. Hind wing costal cell with a broad bare area.
Metasoma: Petiole slightly longer than hind coxa, areolate, anterior carina moderate.
Male. Unknown.
Distribution. Grenada.
Material examined. Holotype: GRENADA: Balthazar (Windward side), H.H. Smith, W.Indies, 99–331, B.M. TYPE HYM. 5.373 [1 ♀, BMNH: UCRCENT 309994] (present in the BMNH collection).
