Roback (1971) described Krenopelopia narda from material collected from a car-top trap between Anchorage and Palmer on Highway 1 in June and July 1964. Living larvae are conspicuous by their white color for one of the two species, Krenopelopia hudsoni , and inhabit muddy seepage areas ( Roback 1983). LeSage et al. (2005) found Krenopelopia larvae in the leaf litter along a stream edge, a habitat reminiscent of where K. hudsoni was originally collected in Maybeso Experimental Forest on Prince of Wales Island, Southeastern Alaska. Our collections are represented by an adult collected on July 10 along a trail northeast of the Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve headquarters bordering an old channel of the Bartlett River and a mature larva on August 5 with pupal characters visible that are similar to a pupa from Alaska that Roback (1983) suggested could be K. narda (i.e., Krenopelopia prob. narda ). This mature larva came from a small stream entering Turner Lake east of Juneau in the Taku Inlet area and was collected from moss-covered bedrock. Our other larval collections of Krenopelopia c.f. narda from Southeast Alaska include the following streams: a small tributary to Nakwasina Sound on Baranof Island north of Sitka, Little Sheep Creek near Juneau, a tributary to Kunayosh Creek near Yakutat, a tributary to Duncan Canal on Kupreanof Island, Carroll Creek on Revillagigedo Island, and a tributary to Whitman Creek on Revillagigedo Island. We have also collected two larvae from a tributary to the Stuyahok River in Southwest Alaska.
