Centris apiformis Smith, 1874 View in CoL . 368.

Type data: Smith (1874) did not specify the number of males collected in Santarém, northern Brazil he used to describe this species. One of these specimens is currently housed at NHMUK and is here designated the lectotype. The exemplar has the following data label: Type H. T. [red-rimmed circular label, printed]\ [light blue circular label] Santarem [handwritten]\ Centris apiformis Smith (Type) [handwritten]\ B.M. TYPE HYM. [printed] 17b 1174 [handwritten]. This specimen corresponds to a metander male, it is in good condition and is coded NHMUK 010812628 in the NHMUK data portal.

Comments: Taxonomic decision for synonymy: Moure (1969). This species was correctly interpreted by Moure (1969), Moure et al. (2007) and Vivallo & Zanella (2012).
