Centris (Hemisiella) trigonoides Lepeletier, 1841 View in CoL

Centris trigonoides Lepeletier, 1841 View in CoL . 167.

Type data: Lectotype male ( MNHP, examined). Subsequent designation: Vivallo (2019 a).

Type locality: Unknown (“Patrie inconnue”).

Centris punctata Lepeletier, 1841 . 169.

Type data: Syntype female ( MNHP, not examined).

Type locality: Brazil: Goiás state .

Centris picea Lepeletier, 1841 View in CoL . 166.

Type data: Lectotype female ( MNHP, examined). Subsequent designation: Vivallo (2019 a).

Type locality: Unknown (“Patrie inconnue”).

Centris dentipes Smith, 1874 View in CoL . 366.

Type data: Smith (1874) described this species based on an undetermined number of male specimens collected in different countries, mainly in Brazil. In 1984, Snelling mentioned he studied the “type” of this species, assuming that it was described based on a single specimen housed at NHMUK. Due to the lack of evidence on the number of specimens that Smith (1854) used to describe this species, according to the ICZN Article number 74.6 the Snelling’s assumption can be treated as a valid lectotype designation. The specimen has the following data label: Type H. T. [red-rimmed circular label, printed]\ B.M. TYPE HYM. [printed] 17B.919. [handwritten]\ [circular light brown label] Braz Tapajos [handwritten]\ Centris dentipes Smith Type. [handwritten]. The lectotype is in relatively good condition and is coded NHMUK 010812630 in the NHMUK data portal. The current condition and depository of the paralectotypes is unknown.

Type locality: Brazil: Pará state: Tapajós .

Centris hoplopoda Moure, 1943 View in CoL . 160, 161.

Type data: Holotype male ( DZUP, not examined).

Type locality: Brazil: São Paulo state: Batatais .

Centris (Rhodocentris) lanipes subtarsata Cockerell, 1949 View in CoL . 476, 477.

Type data: Holotype male ( USNM, examined).

Type locality: Honduras: Francisco Morazán department: Zamorano .

Centris rufomaculata Cockerell, 1949 View in CoL . 476.

Type data: Holotype male ( USNM, examined).

Type locality: Honduras: Francisco Morazán department: Zamorano .

Comments: Taxonomic decision for synonymy: Moure (1960). Moure et al. (2007) mentioned incorrectly that C. dentipes was described from a single male specimen (holotype). This species was correctly interpreted by Silveira et al. (2002), Moure et al. (2007) and Vivallo & Zanella (2012).
