Type data: This species was described based on an undetermined number of females apparently collected in Cantagalo (“Catagallo”), in the city of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil. A syntype female is currently housed at NHMUK and is here designated the lectotype. The specimen has the following data label: Type H. T. [redrimmed circular label, printed]\ B.M. TYPE HYM. [printed] 17b 1169 [handwritten]\ [circular label] Braz Catagallo [handwritten]\ discolor Smith. Catagallo [handwritten]. The lectotype is in good condition and is coded NHMUK 010812623 in the NHMUK data portal.

Type locality: Brazil: Rio de Janeiro state: Rio de Janeiro: Cantagalo (“Catagallo”) .

Type data: Holotype female ( DZUP, not examined).

Type locality: Brazil: Minas Gerais state: Viçosa .

Comments: Taxonomic decision for synonymy: Moure et al. (2007). This species was correctly interpreted by Silveira et al. (2002).
