Sempervivum heuffelii var. vestitum Domin (1933: 17)
The morphotypes of Jovibarba heuffelii with the rosette leaves, which are hairy on the surface were described by Domin (1933: 17) as S. heuffelii var. vestitum . Domin did not indicate any locality in the protologue and no specimen with such a name was found in his herbarium deposited in PRC.
Sempervivum reginae-amaliae Heldreich & Sartori ex Baker (1877: 230) ; non S. reginae-amaliae Heldreich & Sartori ex Boissier (1872: 796) , nom. inval. (pro syn.); nec S. reginae-amaliae Heldreich & Guicciardi ex Halácsy (1901: 580) , nom. illeg.
Boissier (1872: 796) considered the name S. reginae-amaliae from a manuscript of Heldreich and Sartori to be a synonym of S. tectorum L. Being cited only in the synonymy of S. tectorum the name S. reginae-amaliae Heldreich & Sartori ex Boissier is invalid ( Letz 2009). Later, Baker (1877: 230) pointed out that the plants distributed under this name in English gardens do not belong to S. tectorum , but to the subgenus Diopogon (now the genus Jovibarba ). He attached the diagnosis and validly published the name S. reginae-amaliae Heldreich & Sartori ex Baker. According to him this species is “ by the side of S. heuffelii ” and “ a native of the mountains of Greece ”. The author abbreviation “Sart.” given by Baker is sometime incorrectly interpreted as Sarnthein (e.g., Praeger 1932). Wale (1940) pointed out that Sartori had collaborated with Heldreich. Baker´s herbarium is deposited in K and WELT ( Stafleu & Cowan 1976). We were not able to locate any material which could serve as nomenclatural type in these herbaria.
